Control Allergens with a Bedroom Spring Clean

Spring not only ushers in warmer weather but also allergy season, affecting many with symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, and runny noses. Common indoor allergens include pollen, dust mites, mould, and pet dander. While outdoor allergens are less controllable, you can take steps to minimize indoor allergens, especially in the bedroom.

Effective Spring-Cleaning Tips for Allergy Relief:
  • Declutter: Remove unnecessary items to reduce dust collectors.
  • Deep Clean: Dust with damp cloths, vacuum with HEPA filters, and clean walls and windows to remove allergens.
  • Wash Bedding: Use hot water (above 55°C) to eliminate dust mites from bedding, and regularly wash or replace mattress and pillow protectors.
  • Adjust Air Quality: Replace air filters in your heating and cooling systems, preferably with HEPA filters to better trap allergens.

For severe allergy sufferers, consider using fully encased mattress protectors like Protect-A-Bed® Allerzip® which offers comprehensive protection against allergens. With proper cleaning and protective measures, your bedroom can become a sanctuary for relief from seasonal allergies.

However, those stains are typically caused by perspiration (with the average person losing about a litre of water each night), skin flakes, and everyday spills.
