Should Bedtime Change During School Holidays?

School holidays often tempt us to let children stay up later, but maintaining a regular sleep pattern is crucial for their mood and health. The Sleep Health Foundation suggests that bedtime should not vary by more than an hour between school and non-school nights.

Tips for Managing Sleep During Holidays:
  • Encourage Relaxation: Wind down before bed by reading or listening to calm music and avoid stimulating activities.
  • Maintain Familiarity: Bring familiar sleep items like a special toy, pillow, or blanket when traveling to help your child feel comfortable.
  • Protect Where They Sleep: Use Protect-A-Bed® Mattress Protectors and Pillow Protectors to shield against allergens and maintain a clean sleep environment, especially important if traveling.
  • Address Bedwetting: If bedwetting is an issue, bring extra protectors to ensure quick changes and minimal disruption during the night.

As the holidays wind down, gradually adjust bedtime to the usual school schedule if needed.

However, those stains are typically caused by perspiration (with the average person losing about a litre of water each night), skin flakes, and everyday spills. These not only feed dust mites but also contribute to the growth of mould and bacteria.
